My sister, daughter and I are staying in Margate and we decided on The Golden Ox for dinner tonight. From the moment we walked in we enjoyed every moment from the service, menu, food, atmosphere, setting and of.course the food. A great selection on the menu with many different options to choose from for entree, main and dessert. We had cocktails and they were amazing. We were regularly attended to in a lovely way, which we thought was great but when we were leaving the host Nick personally came over to thank us for dining with them and for a small chat which just topped off the perfect evening. The I would definitely recommend this place to anyone and am already planning to come back sometime soon. Absolutely amazing thank you Nick and all of the team at The Golden Ox.
Our family went away very disappointed from the BUFFET Christmas lunch. First time we have ever eaten out for Christmas lunch and thought it would be a festive experience. Instead we felt like kids at a school camp lined up for a meal - having it served by staff and being told we could only have 2 prawns or oysters. Yes we could keep going up for a refill but first time round the "hot" meat was cold and the "cold" meat was warm as it was. Took forever for dirty dishes to be taken from the tables and no bowls for seafood scraps. Certainly killed the festive mood. Such a shame when you pay a lot of money for a buffet meal and can't eat what you want. Was waiting for someone to loose an eye from the low hanging sharp stars and why was there no Christmas music playing - atmosphere was not what we expected when you are paying close to $800 for your family. Dessert also took forever to be brought out to each person - instead of having staff guarding the Buffet food maybe they should be helping serve the alternate drop dessert the young girls serving food were lovely but felt sorry for them as they obviously had not been prepped on what to do. Sadly we certainly won't be coming back or recommending
Great, well priced meals with great variety. We just had our Christmas family lunch here and were super impressed. Staff are very attentive and its refreshing to see some old fashioned customer service. Highly recommend this place. Looking forward to going back!
I ordered one of the Pappardelle meals. Unfortunately the gentleman taking my order didnt write down which one, and of course I was brought something different to what I had ordered. I must admit that the food was great, even if it wasnt what I wanted, and the service was faultless. So I was pretty surprised when at the end of the night I told the lady taking my money that the order was wrong, and there wasnt a word of apology. First time there, wont be going back

Nick and Virgina treat you like family and invest so much time and effort in to their wedding parties. The food is great and nothing is too much trouble to make your special day exactly what you want. Will be so nice to celebrate our anniversaries and Valentines Day at the place we got married.
